Stakeholders Score Makinde High in Education Reforms as Olatunbosun, Others Rally Teachers in Iseyin

Scores of teachers from various sectors in Iseyin Federal Constituency, on Thursday passed a vote of confidence on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

The teachers, who converged at Iseyin District Grammar School, Iseyin commended the Governor’s first-of-a-kind humane consideration for teachers, including them in political appointments and other government programmes.

The teachers also thanked Governor Makinde for the ongoing reforms in the education sector, including promotion of teachers, provision of conducive learning and teaching environment and availability of teaching facilities to aid service delivery, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the teachers, the President of Association of Nigeria Confederation of Principal of Secondary Schools ( ANCOPSS), Comrade Ojetunde Abraham and the highChairman Nigeria Union of Teachers, Oke-Ogun, Oyo, Ogbomoso Divisional Council, Comrade Salami Adedoyin, in their separate remarks pledged that all teachers in Oke-Ogun are ready to work for the continuous success of the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in Oyo State.

Therefore, the teachers expressed support for the Governor’s 2nd term bid, which they said would complement his unprecedented successes in the history of the state’s education sector.

The teachers further encouraged the state government to do more for education. They raised issues such as secondment of teachers, delayed promotion of some Primary school teachers as well as recruitment of primary school teachers.

In his response, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, who also doubles as the Initiator and Coordinator of GSM Teachers Marine, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun said that the State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde would not relent in working for the betterment of the education sector in Oyo State.

He reminded the teachers that the Oyo State Government places premium priority on teachers’ welfare, as every Oyo worker is valuable and essential for the programmes and policies of the government to work.

The event was graced by the Iseyin Zonal Head, Teaching Service Commission, Chief Sanni, Full Time Commissioner, TESCOM, Alh. Awujoola, Board member, Oyo State Teaching Service Commission, representing Iseyin Zone ,Mr. Hosea Oladosu, and the party’s candidate for the Federal Constituency , Hon Shina Oyedeji,

Others were Local inspectors of Education, NUT Executives, representatives of ANCOPSS, AOPSHON, NASU, the newly recruited teachers, GSM fans,Omituntun Teachers Vanguard and Omituntun Teachers Emancipation Movement , party leaders among others.
