As part of effort to promote culture and traditions particularly among school children, Mahnatez International School has organized Cultural Day for its students.
Mahnatez International School which celebrated 10th year anniversary last year is located at Alaafin Avenue, Oluyole, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. According to the founder, the school was established to promote excellence in early childhood education.
The event witnessed display of various cultural items, singing of cultural songs and pupils putting on different attires showcasing and promoting cultures of various tribes in Nigeria. It was held on March 12, 2021 at the school premises.
The Founder and Proprietress of the School, Hajjia Bolatito Adebisi said that the event was to commemorate the 2021 World Culture Day.
She emphasized on importance of preservation of culture as responsibility of all parents, organizations and government at all levels particularly as it is concerns the upbringing of the younger generation.
Hajjia Adebisi disclosed that it is fundamental to teach children way of life through culture and tradition guiding the establishment of various tribes in the country. She listed greetings, foods, dressings as some of cultural values a child must imbibe.
The Proprietress charged parents to compliment efforts of the teachers by individually encouraging and exposing their wards to cultural items and heritage. Hajjia Adebisi added that the step will go a long way in the educational advancement of the children by promotion unity in diversity and tolerance
Organization of World Culture Day is in line with the directive of Oyo State government since 2019 to give schools, private and public and workers opportunity turn out in their traditional attires as a way of promoting indigenous culture.
It is in conformity with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to celebrate and promote diversity in culture.
