The Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government Area, Prince Saheed Arowosaye on Thursday bagged the ‘Distinguished Local Government Chairman Merit Award’ from the prestigious Rootswatch magazine.
Arowosaye was honoured at the 20th edition of the annual Rootswatch award held at the National Merit House Abuja in recognition of his sterling achievements in office.
The Editor-in-chief of Rootswatch and the organiser of the award, Mr. Bayode Ojo said the Oyo East local government area boss and other recipients were selected amongst hundreds of other local government chairmen across the country for “being change agents benchmarking good governance at the grassroots.”
He urged the recipients to see the awards as a “challenge to contribute more to the development of the grassroots and the country in general”.
The event also featured the launch of the special edition of the magazine dedicated to showcasing the personalities and achievements of Arowosaye and other awardees.
In his remarks, Arowosaye said he is dedicating the awards to his team, the good people of Oyo East Local Government, and his family for their constant support for his administration and political life.
He thanked the organisers for “recognizing and rewarding excellence at the local government level, the third tier of government that is closer to the people for its important contributions to national development.”
